| When she was little, Kim's parents told her she could do anything she set her mind to, and she took them very seriously. She's a black belt in karate, a former aerobics and yoga instructor, and a mountain paraglider. Always passionate about animals she earned a law degree in order to focus on laws that protect animals and the environment. She is now the International Executive Director of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.
As a Pisces she's always been drawn to the water - as a child she would tie a garbage bag around her legs and swim around pretending to be a mermaid. Scuba diving in Australia brought her face to face with a huge shark and she was captivated. As it glided through the water she impulsively followed, losing all sense of direction and going deeper and deeper. She entered the shark's world and mind completely and if her dive buddy hadn't chased after her and brought her out of her dream world she'd still be there. “Sharks are being brutally killed by the millions—all for the sake of human greed and profit. What people don’t realize is that by allowing this to happen, we are indirectly sealing our own fate as a species, placing the stability of our own ecosystem—and thus human survival—at risk. It is my mission to defend sharks, and I feel compelled to spur others to action as well. We cannot sit idly by and allow the mass extinction of sharks—the time to act is now! It is our responsibility to protect sharks from the disgusting, cruel, and incredibly shortsighted acts of humans. We are at war—this is a guerrilla movement to save sharks—and we must do whatever it takes, as quickly as possible. The clock is ticking...” Kim's always fighting for the underdog, and sharks are the ultimate underdog of the natural world – completely misunderstood and much maligned. Which shark are you?
