Thanks to an innovative partnership with Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, Shark Angels and Sea Shepherds were able to make a big difference for sharks across all areas of conservation (education, media, awareness, enforcement, legislation) in the South Pacific. During three months in the summer, as part of Operation Requiem, we visited seven island nations and achieved results far beyond our hopes. We educated thousands of kids who depend on the oceans about the need to protect the oceans and sharks, rallied support for shark sanctuaries in four countries, built collaborative relationships with the governments of Kiribati, Tonga and Vanuatu, and patrolled the waters of one of the South Pacific’s largest marine reserves.

We reached thousands with a message of preservation and conservation and even took kids into the water to meet sharks. Laying the foundation for a long-term future in South Pacific and establishing the groundwork for the development of locally protected marine areas in 3 countries, we also created a framework for future campaigns like this around the world.

We aim to continue our awareness, education and legislation programs 2013 in the South Pacific, with your help - building upon the momentum. We've got schools that want materials, villages that want to develop sanctuaries, governments who want to be educated, and kids that want to get involved. We also hope to expand our reach to other nations through this and other partnerships.
